The Way Children See the World

(Astrid Tansidar)

Hari ini iseng kubaca ulang isi blog ku dan entah mengapa yang pertama kubaca adalah posting ini, posting lama yang kutulis tahun lalu tentang suatu film yang…well…membuatku berpikir. Jadi ingin membaginya……

I watched a movie in HBO this afternoon (forgot the title ;p ). It’s about a man who have  Tourette Syndrome (an inheritedneuropsychiatric disorder characterized by multiple physical (motor) tics and at least one vocal (phonic) tic – from Wikipedia) and become the best teacher in his county.

There are several things in this movie that make me want to share it with you.

When he accepted the award he said that he’s grateful of his disability. Because his disability taught him more than anyone in his life. It taught him to keep going and continue his life, to keep dreaming, etc.

But one thing he said which made me want to contemplate it:

The way children see the world is different from us, adult. They see the world and say “We’ll do it”. We see the world and say “We can’t”

Well, yeah I admit it as we grew up we said it more and more whether we realized it or not. Just think..when were the last time we do something without thinking it over and over again? When we said “I’ll do it” and keep going?

We can see that children have more faith for life to take its course than us. As we grew up, we developed a bigger taste of control in our life. I think that’s why we couln’t say “we’ll do it” immediately.

We have to learn to see the world as the children see. Because only God who knew our limit. So let’s say “We’ll do it” and have faith God will not give us something we could not do in this life. God will not give us something in vain to do. Everything we did, even if it’s just a small thing, it would effect our lives somehow…someway…We can see it in nature, nothing going to waste. So that’s the way our life is, nothing going in vain. Believe it, God won’t give us something beyond our limit.

If we think more of it:

If we saw the world like those children and do a lot of things, we would gain a lot of experience.

Le’ts compare it with:  if we say “we can’t”, we won’t do anything and we have nothing. At the end people who said ” we’ll do it” would gain more than people whose said “we can’t”

So whose life is more fully?

The next question is:  Do we want to life our life more fully and have no regret to miss anything? or Do we want to step aside and watched our life flow without us and feel regret, or wondering ‘do I miss something’ ?

Life is too wonderful to be treated like that. So let’s try to live our life more fully and give our worry to God because there’s no such thing which doesn’t have a way out.
